I sent a scammer a photo of my driver's license or passport. What now?
Reviewed answer
Report the exposure to the issuing agency and watch for identity misuse.
- Save the messages and note exactly which documents and personal details you sent.
- Contact the issuing agency through its official website. Ask whether it can flag the document or recommends replacement.
- In the US, freeze your credit with all three bureaus and use IdentityTheft.gov if your information is misused.
