My laptop was lost or stolen. How do I protect my information?

Use available remote-lock tools and secure accounts from another trusted device.
- Try Find My for a Mac or Microsoft's Find my device for Windows if configured before the loss.
- Notify your employer immediately for a work device. For personal accounts, review sessions and secure accounts accessible from the laptop.
- Report theft to local police and provide the serial number if available. Do not attempt to recover it from a stranger yourself.
Get help if
The laptop was unlocked, unencrypted, or contained sensitive files and saved account access.
