People say my phone number called them, but I did not. Was I hacked?

Caller ID can be forged; this alone does not mean someone controls your phone.
- Check your carrier's outgoing-call records for calls you do not recognize.
- Tell your carrier your number appears to be spoofed and ask about available help.
- In the US, report caller-ID spoofing through the FCC's consumer complaint site. Avoid arguing with people returning the calls.

Your carrier records show unfamiliar calls, account changes appear, or your service stops unexpectedly.
