1. Read the web address carefully. Look for misspellings or extra words added to a brand name.
2. Search the store's name plus "scam" or "reviews" and see what people say outside the site.
3. Be wary of huge discounts, a very new site, no real contact info, or ads that only show up on social media.
4. Pay with a credit card, which lets you dispute the charge. Never pay a store you don't know by wire, gift card, Zelle, or crypto.
